Cameron and May carpet-bomb the family with their crazy ideas

On May 21, 1972, Laszlo Toth attacked Michelangelo’s Pietà in St. Peter’s Basilica. In 12 hammer blows, the Hungarian geologist shattered the Virgin’s arm at the elbow, took a large piece off one of her eyelids and smashed her nose. Toth was never charged. The authorities were convinced only a madman could indulge in such mindless destruction. Toth was hospitalised in an Italian psychiatric unit for two years and later deported to Australia. While art historians lamented the damage, leftists hailed his ‘gentle hammer’ with cries of ‘No more masterpieces!’

What was ironic about Toth was his fascination with the Bible. An acquaintance was struck by how, ‘He was always reading his Bible. He told me it was just for inspiration, that he was not really a deep believer in Christianity, but that the Bible was interesting to him as literature.’ As he raced at the statue with a sledgehammer, Toth was shouting with high-pitched Messianic fervour, ‘I am Jesus Christ, risen from the dead.’

What do two Conservative Prime Ministers David Cameron and Theresa May have in common with Laszlo Toth? Toth was mentally ill. Toth partially destroyed a lifeless statue. The destruction was not irreversible. Using a special invisible glue and powder made from the same type of marble, restorers painstakingly pieced together the fragments of Michelangelo’s masterpiece.

What do David Cameron and Theresa May have in common with Laszlo Toth?

Cameron and May claim to be Christian. To them, the Bible is not mere literature. It is the Word of God. So why are two Conservative Prime Ministers, along with leading Conservative ministers rushing at the family—the icon of civilisation, the pièce de résistance of society—and smashing it to the extent that the destruction cannot be reversed? What is conservative or Christian or even mentally sane about this pseudo-messianic iconoclasm?

  • David Cameron led the insane Gadarene rush down the hillside with the legalisation of “gay” marriage despite coming close to being ousted as Tory leader over the issue, says Lord Ashcroft in his biography of the Prime Minister, Call Me Dave. Even Mary, Cameron’s mother, said, ‘I know, but David just won’t be told.’ Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em!

  • Theresa May is now pushing same-sex marriage on the church. She says her father, the Rev’d Hubert Brasier, would have supported blessings for gay couples. This month she backed the introduction of same-sex marriage in Northern Ireland.

  • Under May’s rule, the education quango Ofsted has become more draconian in forcing sexual politics down the throats of children. This month, Ofsted threatened to shut down the orthodox Jewish Vishnitz Girls School for not indoctrinating children in the virtues of homosexuality and gender reassignment.

  • This month, a report produced by Wilton House, an executive agency of the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office said that Evangelical Christians in the Global South should be expected to ‘reinterpret’ the Bible to make it compatible with LGBT ideology. ‘The recommendations, if implemented, would massively reverse freedom of religion across the globe,’ said Barnabas Fund, a leading international charity supporting persecuted Christians around the world.

  • This week, Equalities Minister Justine Greening said she wants to change the law so that people are free to pick their own gender and change the gender on their birth certificate at will without a doctor’s diagnosis.

No sane person would question the idea of equal rights for homosexuals. To discriminate against anybody because of their sexual orientation is barbaric. But to conflate marriage, procreation and the family with gay rights, is disingenuous and destructive. If you can call any arrangement a family—never mind if it is two men, a threesome, or a transgender loon marrying mother earth on a full moon night—the word family has completely lost its meaning. Once advocates of gay marriage succeed in smashing the traditional definition of marriage and redefining it as no longer restricted to one man and one woman, they will continue to redefine it until it has no definition left.

It’s a no-brainer that the institution of marriage should not exist.

Masha Gessen, author and gay activist admits to this agenda in a radio interview, ‘It’s a no-brainer that [homosexuals] should have the right to marry, but I also think equally that it’s a no-brainer that the institution of marriage should not exist…. Fighting for gay marriage generally involves lying about what we are going to do with marriage when we get there—because we lie that the institution of marriage is not going to change, and it should change. And again, I don’t think it should exist.’ ‘Being queer means pushing the parameters of sex, sexuality, and family, and, in the process, transforming the very fabric of society,' says Paula Ettelbrick, former legal director of Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund.

When our Conservative leaders are de facto nihilists, tearing down fences before asking why they were put up in the first place, it is time to ask Douglas Murray if he will write a sequel to his book and call it The Strange Death of the Conservative Party. When he was Chief Rabbi, Sir Jonathan Sacks described the maniacal destruction of the family: ‘Today, we have divorced sex from love; love from commitment; commitment from marriage; marriage from having children; and having children from bearing responsibility for nurturing them and bringing them up. It is as if somebody had planted a bomb in the very midst of our most sacred institution and all we have left is fragments.’

‘Abolition of the family! Even the most radical flare up at this infamous proposal of the Communists,’ wrote Karl Marx in The Communist Manifesto in 1848. In 2017, ensconced in Des Teufels Lustschloss (the Devil’s Pleasure Palace), Karl Marx is almost certainly raising a toast to Theresa May. ‘Abolition of the family! Even the leader of the Conservative Party joins me in celebrating this infamous proposal of the Communists,’ Marx is gleefully telling Lucifer.
